TERM ONE OVERVIEW

Integrated Unit
Welcome to 2B and 2S! Year Two 2010 is set to be an exciting and challenging year for us all. Our year begins with some Mathematics and Jolly Phonics revision - just to get us out of holiday mode! Our Signpost Maths, Reading and Jolly Grammar programs are ready and waiting for us to get started! Cursive writing begins in Year Two - very exciting!
Term One will find Year Two investigating some of the influences in our lives that shape us and impact upon our life journey. We will be exploring the contributions our family members make to our community through their occupations - we will then investigate some of the occupations and endeavour to write some descriptions of them! To conclude this unit of work we will be researching how occupations have changed over the years and aim to create a vision of our future occupations.
Specialist Lessons in Italian, HPE, Dance and Media Studies along with our Literacy and Numeracy Groups will keep us very busy in Year Two this term. Year Two is going to be a great place to be at Our Lady of the Way!!
Religious Education
Religious Education is embedded in all we do in Year Two and in Term One we will be exploring a range of familiar scriptural texts. The students will be gathering and recording information about the people, places and things in a variety of stories from the Old and the New Testament. With the important Liturgical Season of Lent beginning soon we will be reflecting on the scripture stories surrounding the Lenten and Easter Season. Meditation will play a big role in our Prayer life and we look forward to celebrating Mass with the whole school each fortnight.
